Our Wedding

Kelly and Jake met at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. They had both attempted the climb two previous times. But after Jake's entire hiking party mysteriously disappeared while he managed to gain 15 pounds, Kelly was suspicious. On one dangerous climb, Jake was halfway done sawing through Kelly's belay rope, when Kelly did the unexpected: she made Jake laugh. It was then that Jake decided to stop sawing. Two weeks later, they moved in together, and began attending the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law. They pretended they did not know each other for one year, but reunited in their second year. And the rest is history. As told by Jack Grace, our roommate. None of the above is true except for attending USC Gould.

Guests are encouraged to fly into the San Diego airport, located in downtown San Diego, and take an Uber or Lyft to the venue. Julian is about 1 to 1.5 hours away from the airport, but is a very small town once you get there. Many of the hotels are boutique and do not offer room blocks, but there are some great different options listed below.

Travel

Orchard Hill is a small hotel in Julian, just a short walk from Main Street. It offers comfortable lodge rooms and private cottages with modern amenities like Wi-Fi, fireplaces, and cozy sitting areas. A daily breakfast is included, and parking is available on-site, making it a convenient and relaxing place to stay for the weekend.

The Julian Gold Rush Hotel is a historic 16-room boutique hotel right on Main Street in downtown Julian. Rooms are individually decorated in Victorian style; choices include first-floor rooms with private entrances, a patio cottage, and a Honeymoon House with a claw-foot tub. Each morning a complimentary two-course breakfast is served in the hotel’s charming dining room. Guests enjoy free WiFi, self-parking, a garden/terrace, a fireplace in the lobby, and walkable access to shops, restaurants &amp; local attractions.

Julian Gold Rush Hotel

Julian Lodge is a cozy inn right in the heart of Julian, just a short walk from Main Street. Rooms feature modern fixtures like Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, and private bathrooms with coffee/tea makers, microwave, refrigerator. Shared amenities include guest laundry, parking on site, and daily housekeeping.

Julian Lodge

The Apple Tree Inn is a boutique-style motel in Julian, located on Highway 78 near Wynola and just a few miles from historic downtown. Rooms are spacious and fully remodeled, with modern essentials like AC/heating, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffee makers, and private bathrooms. Several units include kitchenettes; there’s also a 3-bedroom farmhouse for larger groups. The property offers free self-parking, is pet-friendly (small fee applies), has an outdoor pool, restaurant &amp; bar onsite, and an accessible Queen room with roll-in shower &amp; van-accessible parking.&nbsp;

Apple Tree Inn

Oak Hill Inn is a small, family-owned boutique inn just a 5-minute walk from downtown Julian. The inn has just three private rooms—all with private entrances and baths—so it feels quiet and intimate. Each room includes a queen bed, flat-screen TV, mini-refrigerator, Keurig coffee setup &amp; dining area. Two rooms in the carriage house have large patios, while the poolside room has vaulted wood-beam ceilings and a rock hearth. Free WiFi, on-site parking, AC/heating, and a seasonally open guests-only pool round out the amenities.

Oak Hill Inn

The Heart of Julian is a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom private mountain home just about 2 blocks from downtown Julian. It sleeps up to 10 guests, and has both a full kitchen with modern appliances and cozy living spaces complete with fireplaces. You’ll find amenities like high-speed WiFi, smart TVs, central AC &amp; heating, washer/dryer, and pet-friendly accommodations (with prior approval). Outdoor features include a front courtyard, gazebo with a fire pit, BBQ area, outdoor dining, and relaxing balcony views. Parking is available via private driveway plus street spaces.&nbsp;

The Heart of Julian

Tucker Peak Lodge is a cozy mountain lodge just a few minutes from downtown Julian. It offers six rooms with private baths, Wi-Fi, A/C &amp; heating, and some with fireplaces. Guests have access to a shared kitchen, common areas, and a deck with mountain views. Parking is available on site, and select rooms are pet-friendly.

Tucker Peak Lodge

Sacred Mountain Ranch is a multi-acre ranch with hiking, horseback riding, pickleball, swimming, and e-biking. If you want to venture outside the ranch, the old mining town of Julian is less than a mile away! Julian is famous for its apple pie, and spots like Julian Pie Company, Mom’s Pie House, and Apple Alley Bakery are local favorites—don’t leave without trying at least one slice (or three). For those looking to sip and relax, check out Menghini Winery or Julian Hard Cider for locally crafted drinks. The downtown area is great for a stroll, with antique shops, art galleries, and boutiques full of handmade finds. And - Kelly's personal favorite - the California Wolf Center offers guided tours where you can learn about and observe these incredible animals up close.
